In our world, 98% of the insects are considered beneficial. Less than 2% are harmful to man. We have created our own problems by using toxic chemicals that are not selective. They kill the good along with the bad and cause infestation of harmful insects that would otherwise be controlled by predators.

The best control for insects is to let nature provide its own checks & balance system. Beneficial insects can control most of the troublesome pests in the landscape. Lady Beetles, Green Lacewings, Trichogramma Wasps, and Beneficial Nematodes are common beneficials used to control and prevent infestation problems.

If you must treat an insect infestation, use the least toxic and most specific solution available. (See list to the right)

Ask your favorite nursery about buying beneficial insects from them, or go online to have them shipped to you. The website suggested here are those of companies that grow and ship different beneficial products for a variety of uses.
